Summer Art Studio by Debbie Dirckx-Norris
Two-D Studio
- June 2-6
- All classes will be 10:00 – Noon
- Cost: $125.00 for each week long class
- Classes will be limited to ten students who are entering 4th grade and older.
This course is designed with the serious young artist in mind. We will meet in the third floor studio.
Students will spend 30 minutes doing quick drawing exercises, which will improve hand-eye coordination and facilitate the transfer from left to right brain focus.
The next 90 minutes will be devoted to student-led art production. Students will be invited to bring something to class to use as inspiration for their own painting or series of drawings. The teacher will act as resource, teaching each child the techniques necessary to complete a successful piece of art—painting, detailed drawing, book, cartoon, etc.

Art Through the Ages
- June 16-20
- We will meet in the beautiful third floor studio and produce art reflective of three major art eras.
- Students will learn about the art, history, and archaeology of Ancient Egypt.
They will create a metal portrait mask in the style of the golden portrait head of King Tut.
Leaving the ancient world far behind us, we will “travel” to the Normandy region of France, visiting Monet’s famous gardens. Students will paint a small landscape in the style of the French Impressionists. Weather permitting; we will paint “plein air,” or outside.
Finally, the students will become artists of the modern age, their age! We will make very unique and creative 3-D paper masks.

Three-D and Me!
- July 14-18
Life will be groovy, Baby, as we immerse ourselves in the art and music of the ‘60s and ‘70s. From the Beach Boys to the Beatles, Peter Max to tie-dye, we will be celebrating the “Age of Aquarius.” Come prepared to get dirty, be funky, and have a blast!
We will make sand cast candles, batik wall hangings, and a mosaic picture frame.
Artists will meet in the basement studio. Please enter through the door with ramp access.
