Lisa Ober has been a professional artist for over 25 years, specializing in oil and pastel portraiture. While her love of painting people continues, in recent years she has been captivated by still life painting and is particularly intrigued by reflective and transparent objects. Lisa co-owns Ober Anderson Gallery in Clayton, Missouri.

Regarding her approach to painting, Ober says "How would I paint that? The question sneaks increasingly into my daily interactions. Whether I am painting people or objects, the challenge and joy of painting is to accurately and realistically render my subjects while retaining the uniqueness of the human touch behind the paint."

Kim Wardenburg uses printmaking as a starting point for explorations in a variety of media, such as artist books, sculpture, installation, and new media. Most recently, she has begun to apply her printmaking practice to social sculpture (artwork that includes human activity) and an interest in communal identity. Kim Wardenburg has a BFA in Printmaking/Drawing from the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts at Washington University in St. Louis. She is the recipient of the Nancy Spirtas Kranzberg Award for Outstanding Achievement in Book Design from Washington University. Wardenburg has exhibited at the Luminary Center for the Arts (St. Louis, MO), Craft Alliance (St. Louis, MO), and the Pyramid Atlantic Art Center (Silver Spring, MD).

Our featured speaker for the March Illustration Section meeting is artist, designer and collector John Foster. John will discuss his experience in collecting self-taught art and vernacular photography, and how this has shaped his view of the many definitions of art. Mark your calendars! John Foster is Director of Business Development for TOKY Branding + Design in St. Louis, Missouri, a strategic branding firm specializing in branding and design for arts and cultural institutions, architects, educational institutions, among others.

A graphic designer for 20+ years, John holds an MFA from Washington University in St. Louis and a BFA from East Carolina University School of Art. For eleven years, he taught graphic design and fine arts at John Burroughs School in St. Louis; he was a member of the corporate design group at Fleishman-Hillard International Communications for nearly 10 years and later Associate Principal at Buck Consultants, a national firm focused on HR and the design of employee communications. »Read more...

Denise Schilling is the St. Louis Artists' Guild's Spring 2012 Artist-in-Residence in Photography. She is a photographer who uses a spontaneous, intuitive approach to explore line, form, and perception. She works with several photographic proceses, including the Van Dyke process and litho prints. Schilling holds a BFA in Studio Art and Photography from Fontbonne University in St. Louis. Schilling has exhibited at Fontbonne University, The Foundry Art Centre (St. Charles) and the Art Co-Op (St. Louis).

Marlene DiFiori Locke has been featured in over fifty local, regional and national exhibits. She has artwork in corporate and university collections such as the 7-Up Company, RGA, Inc, and the University of Missouri-St. Louis, as well as private collections. In addition to creating artwork, DiFiori Locke has also taught art in public schools, summer camps, community centers, and private lessons.

Her most recent exhibitions include Connected by Process, a collaborative installation with Elizabeth Conn, and a major exhibition at Gallery Visio (on the University of Missouri—St. Louis campus) in 2010.
