Ann Metzger Painting Workshop:       

A workshop featuring painters exhibiting in the Ann Metzger Memorial National All Media Exhibit

The Ann Metzger Exhibition Painting Workshop with instructors: Donna Hasegawa and Ron McIlvain is designed to inspire a sense of creative flow and encourage the students in exploring various composition elements. Each two-week session is $35 for Members and $40 Non-Members.

Watercolor is the most amazing medium! The international award-winning painter, Dongfeng Li, will instruct and demonstrate watercolor techniques to further your skills in a fun and interesting workshop. In this class, you will develop your color skills; how to match the color, and basic color theory. We will address rendering skills-how to paint the form and the shape, how to handle the features and likeness; students will also learn the brush and wash techniques. In the workshop, we will paint directly from life as well as a photo. We will also experiment with paint on Yupo paper, an amazing watercolor friend.
About Dongfeng Li:
Dongfeng Li has a Master of Fine Art in painting and drawing and Master of Art Education. He has been teaching Chinese painting, drawing, oil painting and watercolor for more than 15 years in the US His painting workshops havw been conducted nationally and internationally since 2000. Li is an art professor at Morehead State University, Kentucky where he teaches painting, drawing, and design.
Awards he has won for his watercolor paintings include: Missouri International Annual Exhibition Best of Show (2016) , three times first place award in Kentucky Watercolor Society Aqueous USA National Exhibition (2012, 2015 and 2016), First Place Award in Georgia International Annual Exhibition (2016), Best of Show in Alaska National Annual competition (2011), two times Award of Excellence in Watercolor USA (2015, 2016), IDE Memorial Award and Mario Cooper & Dale Meyers Medal Award winner in American Watercolor Society 141st and 147th Annual International Exhibition, New York.
*This workshop is open to intermediate and advanced watercolorists

A One Day Creative Workshop for the Beginner or the Creative Person,
Art supplies included:
Finding Artistic Direction in "Paint and Words" 
with Billyo O'Donnell and Karen Glines

Description: Art supplies provided: easels, paints, brushes and canvas.
For the creative person, or beginning level artists.  
A creative workshop on the relationship between art and the story with Billyo O'Donnell and Karen Glines Artist and Author of Painting Missouri: The Counties en Plein Air. This is a unique workshop to expand the creative individual's concept of direction. Whether you're an artist or a writer, you will learn from each discipline in a fun and educational environment. There will be examples and demonstrations showing how the fundamentals in a painting or narrative can change to give it a sense of purpose and personalized meaning.
Workshop includes:
- 9-9:30am: A short introduction of how the book and exhibit, Painting Missouri: The Counties en Plein Air became a reality.
- 9:30am-Noon: How to give the painting a concept that goes beyond the image and how to create a narrative that draws attention to the subject matter and appeals to the audience. Will include demonstrations. Will continue in 1-2:30pm time slot.
- Noon-1pm: Lunch – (nearby walking distance casual restaurants, bag lunches from home, or we order for delivery) - Karen and Billyo will be available to continue the discussion with those who would like to join them for a quick lunch at a nearby Deli, cafe, or delivery.
- 1-2:30pm: CONTINUED: How to give the painting a concept that goes beyond the image and how to create a narrative that draws attention to the subject matter and appeals to the audience. Will include demonstrations and more interactive discussions on the topic.
- 2:30-4pm: Round table discussion with entire group - The ins and outs of collaboration on a major project including project management, book proposals, creating the art, writing/editing, publicity, and most of all – endurance. 
- 4pm: Conclusion
