Como Fue is an exhibition of artwork created on site in the St. Louis Artists' Guild's printmaking studio by Lauren Cardenas, the St. Louis Artists' Guild's Fall 2012 Printmaking Artist-in-Residence. Cardenas's new series of prints explore the concept of the void in domestic spaces, as well as ideas of loneliness, longing and solitude.


About the Artist: Lauren Cardenas is a co-editor and founder of PIECRUST Magazine (www,, a contemporary art magazine interested in works on paper; including drawings, photographs, prints, sculptures, books, writings and interviews. Cardenas holds a BFA in Fine Art (Painting, Printmaking and Drawing) from Southwestern University in Georgetown, TX and a MFA in Visual Art (Printmaking and Drawing) from Washington University in St. Louis. She has worked in several print shops, including INKubator Press (Kansas City, MO) and Peacock Visual Arts (Aberdeen, Scotland). Her artwork has been exhibited at the Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum (St. Louis, MO), Des Lee Gallery (St. Louis), Open House Galleries (St. Louis, MO), Arthouse at the Jones Center (Austin, TX) and the Cocoon Gallery Art Incubator (Kansas City, MO). Cardenas has pieces in the collections of the Olin Library and Nancy Spirtas Kranzberg Studio for the Illuminated Book at Washington University in St. Louis.
