This class will address concepts of basic drawing. The student will be learning fundamental skills by using various types of line quality, designing with shape, rendering three-dimensional form, discerning value and assessing visual information relationally. Emphasis is placed on the physical and responsive aspects of drawing. Through the repetition of observation and reflex, an intuitive sense of composition, perspective, and proportion develops. We will begin by discussing line quality and gesture drawing, moving into intuitive drawing, learning how to make marks by erasing, learning proportion through use and comparison of negative and positive space, intuitive perspective, suggesting volume with line quality as well as light and shading, with particular focus on how the core shadow adds volume. The class would use a variety of types of charcoal and pencil. Ages 16+
If you must cancel, please email or call STLAG. A refund will be given only if cancellation occurs seven days prior to the first day of class. No exceptions.
