NewPop I
NewPop I is a statement and solo exhibition by Stan Chisholm (aka 18andCounting) that takes a rebelliously cynical stab at the anatomy of pop culture. Memes, media, icons, commodity and quality will be scrutinized as an array of artworks from sculpture to text to drawings will be featured for the show. Chisholm is an interdisciplinary artist from St. Louis, MO who studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. His collages, drawings, and mixed media installations reveal a growing cast of over 700 characters or mascots that serve as a visual lexicon for the moods, personal attributes or feelings explored in his work.
Chisholm’s work has been exhibited at Laumeier Sculpture Park, City Museum (St. Louis), the Contemporary Art Museum in St. Louis, and the Hyde Park Art Center (Chicago).
