Solo exhibition by Kim Wardenburg, Spring 2012 Artist-in-Residence (Printmaking).

Kim Wardenburg uses printmaking as a starting point for explorations in a variety of media, such as artist books, sculpture, installation, and new media. Most recently, she has begun to apply her printmaking practice to social sculpture (artwork that includes human activity) and an interest in communal identity. Kim Wardenburg has a BFA in Printmaking and Drawing from the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts at Washington University in St. Louis. She is the recipient of the Nancy Spirtas Kranzberg Award for Outstanding Acheivement in Book Design from Washington University. Wardenburg has exhibited at the Luminary Center for the Arts (St. Louis, MO), Craft Alliance (St. Louis, MO) and the Pyramid Atlantic Art Center (Silver Spring, MD).

During her residency at the St. Louis Artists' Guild, Wardenburg has explored the early history of St. Louis (particularly the rise and fall of the steamboat era) through a series of monoprints. She will also be creating declaratory banners responding to the history of St. Louis, acknowledging mistakes and imperfections but pointing towards a more hopeful future.
