The St. Louis Artists' Guild has announced its Spring 2012 Keyholder Artists-in-Residence in Printmaking and Photography. The artists will be Kim Wardenburg (Printmaking) and Denise Schilling (Photography). The artists will begin their residences in January 2012.

The Keyholder Residency program at the St. Louis Artists' Guild provides local artists with free studio spae and utitlites for a six-month period. During this time, the artists will create work that will be exhibited in the St. Louis Artists' Guild galleries after the residency is completed. The purpose of the Keyholder Residency program is to give artists the opportunity to develop a body of work in a supportive environment.

The Spring 2012 residencies are the second session of the Keyholder Residency program. The first Keyholder Artist-in-Residence was Robert Goetz, a printmaker, who wroked in the Guild print shop during the fall. An exhibition of work created during his residency will be in the SLAG galleries in January 2012.

The SLAG staff is looking forward to the new residencies. "We love these artists' work. Our organization and its membership will benefit immensely from having dedicated and innovative artists like Kim and Denise working in our studio space," says Gallery and Education Director Gina Alvarez.

"The goal of the Keyholder Residency program is to continue to build a community of artists within the St. Louis Artists' Guild, says Membership Coordinator Adrian Aquilino. "Members of the St. Louis Artists' Guild have the opportunity to spend time with these artists while working in the studio. It's a great way for artists to network and exchange ideas."

"Robert was very welcoming as he explained his process and answered all my questions," says Stremsterfer. "It was a nice surprise to have the opportunity to discuss techniques with him. As a printmaker myself it gave me an opportunity to see some of his work and discuss his evolving prints."
