Understanding Color

instructor: Angela Weis

8 weeks | Tuesdays 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm | September 11 - October 30

The focus of this class is an understanding of color and color relationships. Students will then learn how to identify value shifts, warm cool shifts, and develop a solid grounding of an artist’s eye for color. We will use colored paper as a starting point for evaluating color and training the artist eye. Students will also be required to learn through application and color mixing using acrylic or water mixable oils. Lessons will strengthen knowledge on the principles of design as well as the practical application of the medium. By the end of the class, students should be able to articulately assess color relationships and improve their own artwork through more dynamic color theory. 16+
