Color Theory Painting

January 13 - February 17, 2026

6 weeks, Tuesdays, 1:00 PM - 3:30 PM

Instructor: Michael Faris

This studio class is designed for students interested in learning about color theory, who already have experience with painting in their preferred medium. Students will work through different painting exercises designed to help them better understand the color groups, color mixing, and color relationships. Each artist may choose to work in either watercolor, oils, or acrylics. The class will be a mix of painting exercises, interspersed with applying their knowledge to creating finished paintings. Demonstrations and critiques will be used to explain techniques and composition. Each session will include painting assignments. This course will not focus on how to use the different types of paint, but on how to manipulate color.

See syllabus for material list.
