Donuts, Coffee, and Printmaking

This event will typically be held on the 3rd Saturday of the month.

9:30am-10:30am

Learn various printmaking techniques in short one-hour demos while enjoying coffee and donuts.

This series is geared towards teens and adults, interested in learning more about different printmaking processes.

Some months may have an interactive element, while others will be purely a demonstration/show&tell.

  • On May 18 (the 3rd Sat. of May), from 9:30am-10:30am, Tate Foley will share a selection of his prints and artist's books. "From birth announcement to obituary, my life began and will end in print media. As a printmaker and book artist, I often create series-based works wherein individual parts of the whole fit under a larger conceptual housing, either in an exhibition or artist's book. My printed works cite far-reaching formats including newspapers, printed bills, flyposting, religious tracts, and other various printed ephemera as it explores real, tangible, ubiquitous contact rather than idiosyncratic experience.” Come on out and take a peek at Tate’s work!

  • On June 15 (the 3rd Sat. of June), from 9:30am-10:30am, Candice Corgan will teach participants about the process of screen printing, including how to expose a screen. She will demo screen printing, and together we will create stickers that participants can take home!

  • On July 27 (the 4th Sat. of July), from 9:30-10:30am, Emmett Merrill will share his prints. “My work uses the lithographic process to create narrative prints, exploring themes of nature, ghost stories, art history and the presence of death.” He’ll bring in some lithograph prints to share and present as well as a small litho stone for participants to check out and even doodle on!

  • On August 17 (the 3rd Sat. of Aug.), from 9:30-10:30am, Suzy Farren will teach us about Eco Printing! Eco Printing is a non-traditional print process that uses water, heat and pressure to coax prints from certain leaves onto cloth and paper. Learn more and see the prints that emerge as we unwrap bundles that have been through the eco-printing process.
