Elements of Nature- Painting Waves

5 weeks, Thursdays, 10:00 AM - 12:30 PM

Ages 18+

In this class students will combine elements of nature (earth, water, air, wind) in one composition, to create an acrylic painting! Brenda will discuss her technique/process with physical examples of the same composition in various stages to completion, show examples of her techniques, and talk through the materials that will be used. All skill levels are welcome, but it helps to be familiar with painting. Source images will be provided by Brenda! 

Each painting will be unique! Brenda will guide students through her process of layering thin washes of transparent color, but each student is free to interpret the composition through use of color/layers/etc to create their work of art. Each person has their own feel and way of handling materials. The student should feel the composition (hear the ocean, feel the movement as the water ebbs and flows, observe the colors in the sand and rocks, smell the salt sea, the contrast of the sky, absorb the composition as if they are there), and create that movement/connection within those elements as they paint - not so much for realism, more for mood. Be playful!

SKILL LEVEL: This is a class for all skill levels, but students should have some experience with painting.
