Get the Balance Right: Achieving Color Harmony With Acrylics

May 26 - June 23, 2026

5 weeks, Tuesdays, 6-8:30 PM

Instructor: Raymond Hummel

Age Limits: 18+

In this five-week course, students will work from a vibrant prismatic still life and take on the central challenge: making colors work together. This class focuses on understanding color relationships and learning how to mix and adjust paint to capture the subtle nuances of each interaction. Through guided instruction and hands-on practice, participants will develop greater control over their palette while creating three color studies and one finished, two-session painting. Along the way, students will make deliberate choices to ensure harmony in the finished product, using strategies demonstrated by the instructor.

Skill Level: Beginner (this is a fine place to start for someone totally new to painting) to intermediate (great practice for someone who has been painting for a while and wants to work on their ability to see and mix color).
