Expressive Plein Air: Color, Composition, and Values, with Julie Wiegand

Saturday May 10, 2025

9 AM to 4 PM

This workshop will take place in Berger, MO at Lyon School, Julie Wiegand’s 14 acre property. This location is approximately 1.5 hours away from STLAG.

All mediums and all levels welcome.

In this one day, Plein Air Workshop at Lyon School with Julie Wiegand, learn to see strong and simple designs, overall concepts, and color concepts, to realize a strong beginning-which makes for an enjoyable and clear expression. Artists can choose from a variety of subjects to paint on Julie’s property, from acres of prairie with cut paths to walk, natural gardens, woods, the home, interesting sheds, and shaded areas. Julie believes that “the freedom to play and enjoy is extremely important!”

About the Lyon School: Built in 1868 , this beautiful limestone structure operated as a one room school until 1958. The building was used for storage and the land was hayed by the owners , until 2003, when Julie Wiegand and Tommy Griesedieck bought the building and property. The couple planned to make it their home and Julie's studio & gallery. Lyon School has been lovingly restored and artfully designed by them, along with stone masons, carpenters, and craftspersons from the region. To see photos of the property www.juliewiegand.com
