Beginner Printmakers Workshop: Linocut Using Contour Lines

This beginner-friendly printmaking workshop introduces students to the art of creating a single color linocut print using contour lines and straight-line carving techniques. Students should bring an actual object or a photo of an inanimate object they would like to recreate as a linocut. During the workshop, students will transfer or draw their chosen image onto a 5" x 7" linoleum plate. They will learn fundamental skills including: Building a strong composition, Using linocutters safely and effectively, Inking and printing with a baren, Using a printing press.
Pre-Class Work: Please come prepared with images or photos you would like to transform into a print. We will use line to create value and texture, so please choose an image that isn’t too complex.
All materials will be provided, students must provide their own source image
