Maxine Thirteen








Maxine Thirteen is a figurative painter currently residing in St. Louis, Missouri. Her oil paintings focus on portraiture and utilize inspiration from vintage photos and advertisements, old films, and pin-ups to express commentaries on femininity, social satire, and introspection. Her paintings often incorporate macabre or unusual elements into glamorous imagery to simultaneously entice and disturb the viewer.
Maxine has displayed her vibrant oil paintings in Los Angeles, Milwaukee, New Orleans, and Kansas City, as well as numerous spaces in the Greater St. Louis area, including Duane Reed Gallery, Foundry Art Centre, Houska Gallery, St. Louis Artists' Guild, Fifteen Windows Gallery, The Angad Arts Hotel, Missouri History Museum, 31art Gallery, and the St. Louis Public Library.
She has provided a variety of artistic services to local businesses including 4 Hands Brewing Co, The Golden Hoosier, Condado Tacos, Arkadin Cinema, Bud’s Pizza, and Grandel Wrestling. Her work has been written about in St. Louis Magazine, Ladue News, St. Louis Post Dispatch, and Riverfront Times. In 2022, she was voted "Artist of the Year" in the STL Bucket List Local's Choice Awards.
Maxine is a 2024 Artist INC Fellow through the Mid-America Arts Alliance, and a 2025-2026 Emerging Artist in the Saint Louis Art Fair Emerging Artists as Entrepreneurs Program. From 2021-2025, she served as the art director at 31art Gallery and curated numerous group exhibitions. She is currently a resident artist at Boxcar Gallery in the New Orleans French Quarter, 31art Gallery in the Northampton neighborhood of St. Louis City, and Untitled Fine Art on Cherokee Street in St. Louis City.
