Mixed Media Abstract Experimentation

April 22 - May 27, 2026

6 weeks, Wednesdays, 10AM - 12:30PM

Instructor: Sarah Knight

Using fluid acrylics, pens, pencil, and unconventional tools and experimental techniques, students will learn how to layer and combine materials to create dynamic abstract compositions. Techniques will cover the use of resist, text and lettering, layering, and collage. Perfect for those who need to loosen up or who want to add more color and texture into their work, this class will cover composition for abstraction and explore the psychology of different color palettes. This class will cover tools from traditional brush and paint to squeegee, stamps, and texture-making tools. We will use fun prompts and expressive mark-making to dive into abstract art-making for both beginners and advanced students.

Open to ages 16+, no prior creative experience necessary! Students of all levels are welcome, regardless of previous experience with the material or abstraction.
