Seascapes in Oil Workshop

April 22 and 29, 2026

2 weeks, Wednesdays, 1:00 PM  - 4:00 PM

Instructor: Elzara Yusufova

This oil painting workshop is designed for intermediate students who already have experience working with oil paint. It is not for beginners. Over the course of two classes, students will work on one complete seascape painting on a 16 × 20 inch canvas, allowing time to focus on structure, depth, atmosphere, and painterly decision making rather than quick studies.

Level: Intermediate, oil painting experience required. This workshop is ideal for artists who want to deepen their landscape skills in oil and experience a more focused, studio-style painting process

The workshop will focus on:

  • Developing a strong composition for a marine landscape

  • Understanding foreground, middle ground, and background

  • Painting the movement, rhythm, and color of the sea

  • Working with rocks and coastal forms

  • Refining value relationships and atmosphere

  • Building a cohesive painting over multiple sessions
