Introduction to Linoleum Block Printing
February 4 - February 25, 2026
4 weeks, Wednesdays, 1-3:30PM
Instructor: Sarah Loving
In this four week workshop students have the opportunity to learn about relief printmaking with a concentration on linoleum block printing. Participants will plan a 2-3 layer fine art edition to print on archival paper utilizing St. Louis Artist Guild’s large flatbed etching press. Students will also learn how to choose and mix a color palette using the CMYK process, as well as how to trim paper to use a registration system. Finally, students will see how to hand burnish a print, for making prints at home, without a press. Each student will take home an edition of prints as well as their carved blocks.
Students will need to wear closed toe shoes and be aware that clothes make get stained with ink.
All supplies needed for this workshop are provided.
