See Like a Painter: Mastering Light, Shadow, and Color in Acrylic
February 17 - March 24, 2026
6 weeks, Tuesdays, 6-8:30 PM
Instructor: Maryn Blanco
Develop and sharpen your observation skills through a series of still life, acrylic painting challenges. Each lesson features a new setup designed to help you see and paint the relationships between light, shadow, and color. Whether you’re a true beginner or a seasoned painter, these exercises will increase your ability to depict form and space in your work.
This 6 week course will start simple with a black cube surrounded by primary colors, and each week we’ll explore different textures and color palettes in still life objects. The lessons increase in complexity each week, building the students’ confidence in their abilities. This class uses still life exercises to focus on types of light and shadow, and how they relate to color. Through this class, students will sharpen observational skills needed for representational art, and techniques that will serve them in painting all types of subject matter.
