Tetra Pak Printing
September 10 & 17, 2025
2 weeks, Wednesdays, 1-3:30PM
Instructor: Sarah Loving
In this two week workshop, local Printmaker Sarah Loving will guide you through the eco-conscious method of using using Tetra Pak waste as a substrate for printmaking plates. By making an impression with a stylus or etching tool into the tetra paks foil surface an intaglio print can be achieved. Additionally, students can explore cutting away the foil layer and reveal a plate that prints more like a collagraph. Both hand printing and the etching press will be explored at this workshop. Students will have the opportunity to learn both methods so printing can be tried again at home without a press!
Examples of packaging that is “tetra pak”, these are FOIL lined cartons typically used for broth, soups, milks, etc.
All materials will be provided, except tetra pak containers. Students are asked to collect tetra Paks for use in class, these include any FOIL lined carton typically used for broth, soups, milks, etc. rinsing is sufficient, so you can learn the best method for breakdown to use these cartons for print.
